ABSTRACT: Stylistics encompasses the examination and analysis of texts through the lenses of both linguistics and literature. The purpose of this study was to analyse the fundamental language characteristics employed by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie in her work, The Thing Around Your Neck, in order to effectively convey messages to both readers and society. The study employed a functional methodology, which involved careful consideration of the stylistic function, impact, and thematic importance of language elements in a literary work. The applied stylistic techniques encompassed various linguistic aspects, including morphology, graphology, phonology, syntax, lexico-semantics, and point of view. Upon employing these methodologies to analyse the novel, it was ascertained that language constitutes an indispensable component of any artistic creation, and the achievement of a work hinges upon the writer's adeptness in manipulating language. Adichie has successfully brought about changes through a deliberate and systematic utilisation of language, thereby facilitating a more comprehensive comprehension of her literary contributions.
